Public transportation in Tijuana costs about $1 USD. One can taste the diesel emissions in the air. In 2009, a group of Mexican and U.S. agencies announced the Baja California Air Monitoring Network to study the emissions due to population explosion, traffic and maquiladoras along the Tijuana, Rosarito, Tecate and Mexicali corridor.
